Casey Halper, Director of The Casey Halper Group, is a pediatric Occupational Therapist and Consultant in private practice in New York City.  She specializes in developing and implementing handwriting and sensory integration strategies for preschool and school-aged children.  As a consultant at West End Day School and P.S. 150, she presents educational seminars for parents and teachers, as well as leads handwriting groups for children.  At Rodeph Sholom School, Casey participates on a multi-disciplinary team to determine appropriate therapeutic recommendations for preschool children.  

Casey has earned a reputation amongst several prestigious Manhattan schools for effectively treating children with handwriting, attention and organizational issues. Additional clinical experiences include providing occupational therapy treatment in sensory gyms for children ages two to twelve with Sensory Processing Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, muscle weakness, as well as fine motor and graphomotor delays.  At the Association to Benefit Children, Casey evaluated and treated children in The Early Intervention and Head Start programs.  In 2001, Casey received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She has received certifications in therapeutic techniques including Handwriting Without Tears, The Print Tool: Handwriting Without Tears Workshop, Listening with the Whole Body, The Whole Child: The S.A.N.E. System of Pediatric Assessment and Treatment, The Alert Program for Self Regulation, and Neurodevelopmental Therapy.  


Lauren Schecter received her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University.  She has pediatric experience working as a school based therapist with children ages 4-12, as well as providing therapy to children in their homes.  Lauren has been working with The Casey Halper Group since Fall 2007.  She specializes in treating children who have difficulty with handwriting, fine motor skills, and developing written work.  Lauren implements strategies including the Handwriting Without Tears and Inspiration Computer Program, a visual learning program that inspires students to develop and organize their ideas when writing.  Lauren is passionate about helping kids progress towards achieving their goals.


Andrea Binder received her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy at Columbia University in 1996.  Since then, she has been working as a pediatric occupational therapist in a wide variety of settings, including various schools, children's homes and several sensory gyms.  She has taken numerous courses from the Handwriting Without Tears program, as well as other courses to improve her pediatric skills and knowledge.  Andrea loves working with children and watching them gain confidence as they improve on their skills. 


After receiving her Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from New York University, Karen Geisenheimer has been working as a clinic and school based therapist specializing in many areas of Occupational Therapy.   She utilizes a variety of tools to promote learning and overall development including Handwriting Without Tears, Therapeutic Listening and SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to Feeding. Karen is dedicated to helping children and their families achieve and surpass their goals while promoting enjoyment and success across the span of their education.
